Sketchy
I love to sketch. But, I am still in the process of fine-tuning my particular style. So whenever I see other fashion sketches that I like, I learn from how they draw and adapt that into my style. Some of the best fashion illustrators I’ve seen circling the blogosphere would be:
Kelly Smith
Vic Riches
Blue Logan
MCM (Mary Catherine Moody)
Decade: An Illustrated Diary
....And Stretch
As summer is ending, I am getting back in shape, and ready for school, by going to the tryouts for my cross-country team. Obviously my excercise isn’t as glamorous as these models, especially in the 106˚ heat of LA, but I found this spread from an old Vogue Italia to be really beautiful. Inspired by a vintage beach scene, it is a fun visual spread.

Let's Have a Field Day
Whenever stylists/magazines seem to want to express an air of whimsical, etheral beauty, they turn to a field for the setting. Usually the models are dressed in white, flowy dresses with their hair long and loose. The idea is so overused, but there are so many beautiful field photoshoots still.

Azzedine Alaia
Not one of the brands that gets lots of credit for their clothing, but Azzedine Alaia makes utterly beautifully detailed clothing. With the internet, its hard to notice the little details that make clothing so incredible. But if you see the clothing up close, it is impossible to miss why these clothing are so often worn on the best-dressed. If I owned an Alaia piece, I’d be too afraid to...
Giovanna Battaglia
Some faces are annoying to see repeated on so many fashion blogs because their style really isn’t as unique as it seems, but people like Giovanna Battaglia deserve to be repeatedly photographed and talked about. She not only is beautiful but she knows how to pick out the most beautiful clothes that are just right for her age and body.

Belt Time
I saw this on Song of Style, but I coulnd’t find the editorial it actually came from. Other than the fact that its a beautiful picture, I am IN LOVE with the watch-belt. I’ve seen it before in accessory stores, but I always laughed it off. But seeing it like this, it is absolutely stunning and I would love to own the belt, let alone pull it off as well as this model.

The Perfect Summer Dress
Seen on Fancy Treehouse, this is the type of dress I have been wearing and will keep wearing until this awful heat lets up.
The Best Kind
Fashion is all about expressing your own individual style, and so many people stop doing that when they try to wear the trendiest and most stylish clothing. But Catherine Baba keeps to her own style; and therefore wherever she goes, she turns heads (in a good way). I wish that I had the confidence of her to wear exactly what I felt like and not second-guess my outfits.
A beautiful sketch of what the upcoming season is going to be like.

Fashion's Night Out
Fashion’s Night Out, the one night where the whole fashion industry comes together to make fashion and shopping as exciting as it truly can be. With pop-up shops and designer collaborations and stores open late and designers & models walking around the stores, this night is all that any fashion-lover could want. Too bad that its only in New York, and I am entering eleventh grade,...
Before his tragic death, Alexander McQueen worked on one final piece: a dress for his long-time friends and socialite Annabelle Neilson. Nothing short of beautiful, this silk gown with a feather collar was the last thing McQueen worked on.
Not a fan of Diane von Furstenberg’s new ad campgain, particularly since I am not a fan of the photographer Terry Richardson. But, I did like this one photo.
It is fun and exciting and makes me want to shop – something that not a lot of ad campaigns lately make me want to do. However, I did like the ad taglines in many of the photos. But overall, the campaign did not make the clothes look...
Proenza Schouler
I would die to wear the Proenza Schouler collection to school this year. It has everything I want for this season. From pleated skirts to graffiti pants to cropped jackets to over-the-knee socks, it has it all. This collection is not only extremely wearable, it also has the ability to be either dressed up or down depending if the pieces are worn together (casual) or paired with other items...
Stolen Girlfriends Club Summer 2010/11 Lookbook
Nothing better than beautifully made basics in neutral shades that can be mixed and matched again and again to create effortless outfits.
Fall Coats
Coats and capes are this fall’s necessity. Not just because the weather tends to get a little chilly in most places, but because designers have thrown so many beautiful versions down the runway, that its impossible not to want one of these. From plaid fleece, to chic camel, to dark greys, every sensible and stylish person needs to start stocking up.
....And I'm Off
Sorry for the lack of posts today and yesterday, I was dealing with computer issues. But now my computer is fixed, but I’m off to Berkeley to move my sister in to college. So, bare with me while my blog does not have any new posts for a couple days. But then I’ll be back home in a couple days and I’ll blog all of my final summer photos, before I head to school for the much...
Street Style
The best place for me to find inspiration is amongst the people walking down the street. Whether they are models or just ordinary people, street photographers have an eye for catching unique, interesting styles.

Friendship bracelets are a trend of our childhood. But it seems that designers keep going back in time to draw inspiration for modern-day. Just like letterman jackets, friendship bracelets aren’t something you wear for “fashion” or “style.” They are more or less a representation of something – either a friendship or a position on the football team. But in hard...

High School Cool
Going to a school with no football team, I always enjoyed the look of the football team dressed in their letterman jackets walking through the halls of schools in every TV show or movie. Apparently designers liked that look/feel too since quite a few letterman jackets popped up on the runway. I guess they were reminiscing over their high school days and decided to go back to those days, through...

I love a good flowy dress, especially since not everyone can pull them off so effortlessly as this girl.

Roberto Cavalli
I never really focus much on Roberto Cavalli’s collection each season. Not because he isn’t a talented designer, because he really is. But I just have this assumption about his style of clothing that doesn’t interest me. But then I was looking through his collection to find a certain outfit (for the last post) and I saw some beautiful pieces. There were a handful of beautiful,...
Return to the Jungle
Although a little bolder at Dolce & Gabbana and Blumarine, animal prints definetely appeared quite often in the Fall collections, along with fur. I guess that means that its the return of the animal inspiration. I’m not big on animal prints, except in moderation – like a cheetah print headband or dress paired with lots of black.

Back to Black
Black is always an essential color palette for some designers each season, but this season it looks like many designers took the black even further and created beautifully intricate goth-inspired clothing. All black isn’t really my style, but there are some beautiful pieces in here that I would definitely wear in a different outfit.

Watch Me
I’ve been wanting this watch ever since I saw a version of it at Bendel’s in New York. But I didn’t feel like buying the watch because I never actually wear watches. And now I found this watch for $35 in a little shop near my house. If I like a watch enough, I wear it for a while, and then I get tired of it and I stop wearing it. So I’m not sure if its worth it. So I...
Many teenagers (myself included), try to dress older than their age, and it fails miserably sometimes. But this young lady who was photographed by Hanneli is sophistication at its best. Her outfit is incredibly stylish, mature, and classic. She demands attention when she walks into the room, not because of what she is wearing, but because of how she wears it.
Perfection
Once again, another example of my current obsession with pleated skirts and jackets/sweaters. I’m going to need to start major thrift-store shopping to find some in the next two weeks before I start school.

Some Favorite Fall/Winter Coats
No matter what the trend is, it is always good to have a versatile, stylish coat that can go with just about anything in your closet, as well as be an outfit by itself. These are my favorite coats that I’ve seen. I know the trend is “camel” and “minimalism,” but these coats are just so beautiful that I would rather have one of these. And, a good coat can last...
Fuuuuur
Fur is a huge trend this year, but only in accessories and small details, except for Chanel’s bodysuits. But I still can’t help my love and obsession with big fur coats and jackets. Since a young girl I would love to dress up in my sister’s leopard coats. And now I have a few of my own, although the LA weather barely ever permits me to wear one. And I don’t exactly have...

Supermodels before "Supermodels"
These models are fashion. These models are glamour. These models are the faces and bodies behind some of the most iconic work of the 50’s and 60’s. Dovima, Veruschka, Jean Patchett, and Jean Shrimpton are some of the most stunning, elegant models of their time, and of all time. Their looks landed them on the covers of every magazines and in every editorial and ad campaign. Designers...

Pow! Bam! Smash!
This is one of my all-time favorite editorials. Not neccessarily for the actual images themslesves, but for the story that goes with it. A couple years back, the Met hosted their annual costume exhibit. But the theme for this one was a little more exciting than ones in the past: Superheroes. I was dying to go to this exhibit, but of course, I couldn’t go to New York until months after the...

Styling a Cover
It’s not often that I find myself actually enjoying the styling of a magazine cover. However, when I came across this Vogue Germany from May 2009, I really enjoyed the cover. There was nothing outrageously different than any other magazine cover. It’s a pretty girl, a plain background, and a runway outfit. Yet, I really enjoyed the styling of the outfit, and it always helps that the...
Natalia Vodianova by Steven Miesel in Vogue US May 2009
Looking for a watch just like this one. Not sure where to buy one though. Bendel’s had the perfect one, but me being cheap refused to spend $50 on a watch, which now looking back on it was not expensive at all. Oh well, I’m trying to find a vintage version thats cheap and cute.
Natalie Off Duty
Such a beautiful summer dress, it seems like a floral Stella McCartney dress from her Spring 2010 collection. But this dress is just everything I love in a dress. This was found on Natalie’s blog, which is filled with pictures of her on her downtime from being a model.
