Neon Colors
This was by far one of the most beautiful Spring collections. In part, due to the gorgeous array of neon colors that were so refreshing next to all the black-&-white collections. Christopher Kane’s ability to transform lace & tulle into something that looks nothing like it is another highlight. The cohesion of the collection was impeccable as the audience saw each piece transition...

I probably have written about Lula before, but it’s too good not to repeat. Lula is a biannual fashion magazine that discusses fashion, music, art, and make-believe. The images and spreads are all done in a very ethereal, whimsical, soft style which makes all of the clothing and models very refreshing compared to other magazines. While it does have some spreads on celebrities (Natalie...

Plastic Shopping Bags at Jil Sander
I just recently saw these Jil Sander bags from the Spring collection. I find it so incredible the way designers can transform something so average – plastic shopping bags – and transform it into something so beautiful. Many people wouldn’t understand the beauty of this; to them it is just an expensive plastic bag. But to those who appreciate fashion, this is an example of the talent and...

A Year in Shoes
Dec 28th
When the Louis Vuitton Cruise collection came out a few months ago, I wasn’t crazy about it. There was nothing that I didn’t like about the collection, but there was nothing that I particularly liked about it either. But now, seeing the ad campaign for the collection, it made me go back to the collection and realize that there are looks and pieces that I do enjoy. It made me realize...

Collection of Style
Always advancing forward, H&M just added a new element to their powerhouse brand. Collection of Style is their new clothing line (availiable only in the UK) that is supposed to ignore seasonal trends. The pieces are in a neutral color palette and the material is of very high quality. I find the idea to be brilliant because as the fashion world creates more and more seasons (Pre-Fall and...

Stella McCartney X Adidas
You know I just love designer collaborations. The next one to come out is Stella McCartney and Adidas (although if I’m correct, they’ve already done one before…). But this new collection is based o n clothes for the weekender and yoga lover. This collaboration is wonderful because it’s functional enough for the real sports-enthusiasts but also trendy enough for those...

Some trends are just not worth investing in. Feather skirts are a slightly frivolous trend, but nonetheless wonderful. I would never actually buy one of these because I’d be too afraid this bold look would go out of style by the time I actually drop a couple hundred dollars on it. With trends like these, that’s where DIY comes in handy. *Courtesy of WhoWhatWear

Raphael Young
I recently saw a pair of Raphael Young shoes on a blog and was thoroughly impressed. He found a way to sculpt shoes and heels into a piece of art. His technical skills are as impressive as his eye for beauty. Using science and physics, he is able to create a sense of balance in the shoes. This sense of balance has led many of the wearer’s to claim that these heels are not only beautiful...

Examining Leighton Meester's Style
Blair Waldorf (from Gossip Girl) is known for her preppy, luxurious style. She has sparked a schoolgirl trend throughout fashionistas and the fashion industry worldwide. However, not everyone knows that the actress behind Blair has equally incredible style. Leighton Meester’s off-set style falls somewhere between edgy and girly, with an occasional preppy element. Of course she sports...

Sea of Shoes Fashion Sketch Contest
Sea of Shoes hosted a contest of fashion sketches of any Spring collection look. Sketching is one of my personal favorite forms of art, so I was thoroughly impressed and inspired by some of the sketches I saw submitted. It’s so interesting how some people choose to express the looks, some very realistic and others completely abstract. These are just a few of my favorite sketches from the...

When Tim Walker Takes a Photo...
Tim Walker is one of my favorite fashion photographers. What he does with an editorial is unachieved by any other photographer. He truly creates a whole world within his photographs. He goes above and beyond to make his pictures come alive in a whimsical, sometimes eery, way. He does not forget to make the clothing look beautiful in his attempt to create these fantasy worlds, instead he makes...

The Magic of Stella
To be honest, I’m not sure how I didn’t post about this collection when it originally appeared. Stella McCartney’s Resort 2011 collection is pure brilliance and beauty. So many different elements combine to make it so perfect. For starters, the colors. They are all very soft, subtle colors, and then a pop of black. The beautiful flower print dresses are incredible. I’m...

School Girl Charm
These are some of my favorite looks from a few of the Pre-Fall collections. At first they seemed random and didn’t have any overlapping style, but then I noticed that they all were schoolgirl-esque. The Thakoon jacket is highly reminiscent of the infamous high school football letterman jackets. Tibi’s collection was a series of pleated skirts that any school girl would love to own....

Currently admiring the wonderful style of Shala Monroque. Her style is a mix between classic and eclectic. Shala, the editor-at-large of Pop Magazine, appeared at almost just about every fashion show this year, in ensembles worthy of being on the runways themselves. And, she has a blog to follow what goes on in her mind. She is one of the wonderful people that really embodies why I love fashion....

The Selby captured the hands of Daniela Kamiliotis at work. Her wonderful assortment of rings are so completely unique and beautiful. It’s not often that you see someone wearing more than three rings, especially if they are each a statement piece on its own.

2010: A Fashion Summary
The fashion world took a huge step forward this year with the inception of live-streaming fashion shows. No longer did fashion-loving fans have to wait until the collections showed up online, or even in the pages of magazines. Designers allowed their collection to be broadcast online exactly as it happened. This changed the way the fashion world works for a few reasons. But mainly, because it...

Haunting, dark, disturbing. I saw the first half of Black Swan yesterday expecting to be blown away. The casting was perfect; Natalie Portman couldn’t be more better suited for the role. The costumes are too DIE for, literally. Rodarte designed the costumes for the swan dance.  Frothy, white perfection to exemplify the perfect, contained white swan. But then the jagged, sensual black tutu...

Burberry Prorsum
The Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall collection surprised me a bit. I was expecting to fall in love with every piece the girls wore, like I usually do. But instead, I found a disappointment in the women’s clothing. There was not much innovation or new concepts. But then I started noticing the men’s collection…and THAT struck my fancy. The coats the boys flaunted were utterly beautiful...

J.Mendel Pre-Fall 2011
At the end of a soirée, the girls go to the coat closet to drape their boyfriend’s coats over their shoulders as they brace themselves to walk out into the brisk Fall air.   This collection was a seamless mix of delicate dresses and structured outerwear. None of the coats/jackets were too masculine or structured – they all had a very feminine side to them. And J.Mendel can work wonders with...

R E D
Bright colors seem to be carrying over from the Spring 2011 collections in the form of red. Almost every single one of the collections that came out so far had at least one completely red outfit. It’s a bold look, so sometimes it’s better just to wear it in moderation – like red shoes or a red headband. But if you feel like pulling a full red outfit off, then it’s the season to...

Take it to the Streets
In times when fashion is so much focused and inspired by what people on the street wear – thanks to the increasing attention given to just the average folk due to street style blogs – it is no wonder that designers are designing clothes targeting that audience. The Pre-Fall 2011 collections are filled with clothing that were clearly inspired by streetwear, but also intended for streetwear.

The Season of the Capri
Dec 11th
We’re barely out of Fall 2010, but in the fashion world we’re well into Fall 2011. It’s a little hard to keep track when everything is so ahead. Some of the clothes I see in the Pre-Fall collections I want to wear right now, but by the time they come into stores, I will no longer have any desire for them. But some things I will be lusting after, trying to find them with...

Keds X Loomstate
I’ve been looking for a pair of hiking boots to add to my winter wardrobe. But it is just impossible to find the ones I want because all of the ones I see are a little too hiker-ish. This collaboration between Keds and Loomstate has taken the hiking boot (and combat boot too it looks like…) and made a stylish variation of it. They still look like hiking boots, but they’re not...

Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall
Classy, as always. Beautiful, as ever. There’s a reason Oscar de la Renta has maintained his esteemed position in the fashion world for decades. He simply knows how to make beautiful clothing. He experiments with styles, fits, and colors, but always manages to turn it into something that every woman would want.  The thing I really enjoyed about his most recent collection was the color...

Based on the few sentences I read, the Chanel Pre-Fall collection was Byzantine-inspired. Considering that I just learned about that for my AP Art History test, it actually sounds cool to see how Karl Lagerfeld translated that into clothes. Once this week is over, I’ll be back to regular posting and speak more about the Pre-Fall collections, but for now, homework and studying comes first.

One of my all-time favorite D&G collection. The outfit second to the left is pure beauty. The tulle skirt, fur coat, and graphic tee. To me, this outfit is everything I love, it is girly, glamorous, and a tad bit edgy. So completely perfect.

All I Want...
I’m probably one of the last people that could survive the cold. To me, winter is jeans and a long-sleeve shirt. No jackets, rarely boots. Why? Because I haven’t owned a winter coat since I was about 12 years old, and I never really wear boots (except for this past year). I am an extremely picky shopper. I know what I want, I buy what I want, but I can barely ever find what I want....

Pringle of Scotland Pre-Fall 2011
I wouldn’t say that this was the most creative or original collection that I’ve seen. One of the only dresses in the collection was fairly reminiscent of one that paraded down the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway, only months ago. But the execution was impeccable. The tailoring was sharp and crisp. Each piece looked like something that could last forever, in quality. And the pants were my...
